An estimated 6 million dogs are diagnosed with cancer in the US each year, and too many aren't caught until symptoms are already advanced.
Canos is bringing the same class of technology reshaping human oncology, multi-omics cell-free DNA (cfDNA) testing, to veterinary medicine.
Cancer is a moving target: no single tool or biomarker reliably separates its signal from background noise. Our research, built on canine cfDNA data across multiple studies, has identified hundreds of genetic and epigenetic features that together help distinguish cancer from non-cancer plasma. Comparing a dog's results against its own baseline, rather than a population average, is what makes tracking change over time more meaningful.
Our 22 September 2026 preprint, version 1 includes 341 dogs across four studies. Its diagnostic subset achieved 90.6% sensitivity at 95.1% specificity in nested cross-validation. This bioinformatics study compares and integrates complementary cfDNA signals from canine cancer research.
We admire every pet owner fighting cancer alongside their dog, and each story is a key to unlocking what we understand about canine cancer. We're looking for 100 Canos Angels to join the program and share their story.
